Located here in Farnham, the Crafts Study Centre’s collection embraces ceramics, textiles, calligraphy and furniture, accompanied by makers' diaries, working notes and photographs.
Much of the collection has been built up from donations and bequests and includes work by Bernard Leach, Lucie Rie, Hans Coper, Ethel Mairet, Phyllis Barron, Edward Johnston and Ernest Gimson.
The Crafts Study Centre relocated in 2000 to the University for the Creative Arts at Farnham from the Holburne Museum of Art in Bath.
In 2004, the Centre opened in an elegant new building featuring two exhibition galleries, a lobby, gift shop and library and research room (available by appointment only).
Today, the Centre has a strong track record of providing imaginative exhibitions of its core collections, alongside shows featuring innovative new work by leading, contemporary craft practitioners.
The Centre hosts regular gallery talks featuring artists and exhibition curators who offer a behind the scenes glimpse into the life of the Centre.
