Raymond Blanc launches Farnhams Feast of Food
Fresh local, seasonal and tasty is the gospel of Raymond Blanc and describes perfectly Farnhams Feast of Food. Organised by Farnham Town Council the Feast will take place between 14 and 28 September and has been officially launched by the Michelin Star chef, Raymond Blanc.
The Farnham Food Fortnight, which begins on 14 September, will celebrate both the local and international cuisines on offer in Farnham. Brasserie Blanc which opened in Farnham earlier this year will be one of 14 restaurants serving a special menu. Brasserie Blancs 20 mile menu will offer delicious dishes made from produce sourced from within 20 miles of the restaurants front door. The restaurants philosophy is described by M. Blanc as exciting, fresh, authentic and where service is at the heart of the business. Brasserie Blanc cares about where food comes from and is supporting local farmers and reconnecting consumers and chefs with the values of producing quality food.
Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: Preparations are being finalised for Farnhams Feast of Food which promises to be superb. Food is a topical subject with people far more aware and interested in what they eat.
She adds: During Farnhams Feast of Food you can treat yourself and have a meal cooked for you at one of the Food Fortnight restaurants or if you prefer to cook, you can buy your own produce from the Farmers Market on Sunday 22 September or pick up some tasty morsels from the Feast of Food on Saturday 28 September. With the food theme being fresh, local and quality, Farnhams Feast of Food is an event not to be missed.
The culinary grand finale of Farnhams Feast of Food will happen on Saturday 28 September when Castle Street will close to traffic and will host a spectacular Food Festival. Over 70 food-themed stalls will line the street, tempting shoppers with free samples and delicious products. There will also be a chance to see live food demonstrations when some of the areas best culinary experts will prepare national and international dishes ranging from sushi, paella and a Thai-style salad to a seafood platter, marshmallows and traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
Describing his thoughts about Farnhams Feast of Food, Raymond Blanc says: Food festivals are a place to celebrate food. They are a reflection of British culture and provide us with a sense of responsibility. Food Festivals are part of our consciousness and a chance for a huge celebration of food.
The Farnham Food Festival has received generous sponsorship from local businesses including The Best of Farnham as gold sponsor and India Jane, Andrew Lodge Estate Agents and the Shepherd and Flock pub, with the Farnham Herald as Media Partner.
