Picnic in the Park Draws Closer
On Sunday 4th July, Gostrey Meadow will host a brand new musical event, organised by Farnham Town Council.
The event, Picnic in the Park will showcase three talented groups, offering an eclectic musical mix. Performing on a large covered stage, Harry Stutters’ Jive & Swing will launch the event at 12 Noon.
The band, which are no strangers to the Music in the Meadow season, specialise in jazz of the 1920s and 1930s and will play an exciting programme of swing, blues and jump and jive classics.
The afternoon will continue with a performance from The Danny Lee Band at 1.15pm. The band, which has performed at the renowned Edinburgh Festival, will present a mixture of rock and party classics from 1960s to the present day.
Finishing the programme, from 3pm – 5pm, the renowned Hart Male Voice Choir will sing a variety of classical male voice songs and being American Independence Day, these will include a number of American songs.
A refreshment marquee will be on site which will provide the audience with the opportunity to purchase lunch and enjoy a leisurely picnic in the Meadow. The Blue Bell Public House at Dockenfield will be providing a delicious hog roast, homemade burgers, hot dogs and alcoholic beverages, whilst Woodlarks Trust will be providing a Charity Tea Tent of cakes and biscuits and hot and cold soft drinks.
Plus, if adverse weather is forecast, the marquee will provide substantial cover against the elements!
The event is absolutely free and anyone wishing to attend is advised to bring their own chair or picnic rug.
