The children doing memorial rubbings. c.Potters Gate School

A year 4 class from Potters Gate School visited West Street Cemetery in Farnham as part of their class topic on Farnham and their science project on habitats.

The class undertook 2 activities whilst on their visit.  The first activity was to count the number of butterflies they saw whilst following a trail and the second was to record the inscriptions on some of the cemeteries oldest memorials through taking memorial rubbings.

The children enjoyed their visit to the cemetery with the highlight being seeing all the wildlife.  Farnham Town Council and Potters Gate School hope to be able to repeat the activity again next year.

The Friends of Farnham Cemeteries are doing a butterfly count every week, if you would like to take part in the count or in any of the other Friends of the Farnham Cemeteries activities please contact Cath Sydenham either by email or telephoning 01252 712667
