Category: What's happened?

This year’s Farnham Civic Service was held on Sunday 21st July, at St Andrew’s Parish Church, Farnham.

In addition to the Town Mayor and her Consort, Cllr Mrs Lucinda Fleming and Mr Andrew Fleming, the service was attended by many representatives of the local community and voluntary organisations, together with VIPs and civic leaders from adjoining local authorities. These included The High Sheriff of Surrey, The Mayor and Mayoress of Waverley, The Mayor and Escort of Guildford, the Mayor and Consort of Haslemere, the Mayor and Consort of Godalming, the Chairman and Lady of Cranleigh, the Mayor and Mayoress of Alton as well as Farnham’s  Honorary Freeman Sir Ray Tindle and Lady Beryl Tindle, MBE.

On this very important civic day for Farnham, the congregation were greeted by Krishna Rai, the Town Council’s Piper, who piped everyone into the church. Once inside the church, Leila Mather treated the congregation to a wonderful solo performance of Mozart’s Laudate Dominum.

During the service, Andrew Owen from the Brightwells Gostrey Centre, this year’s Mayor’s Charity, and Cllr John Ward, the Deputy Town Mayor of Farnham, read texts from the Old and New Testament.

The Civic Service, led by the Revd Canon Andrew Tuck - Rector of Farnham included contributions from The Revd Michael Hopkins - United Reform Church,  Revd Vida Foda - Farnham Methodist Church and Revd Carol Wilson-Barker, Team Vicar – Hale and Badshot Lea
A small reception was held for the guests in the Pavilions after the Civic Service.
