Despite the chilly and rather cloudy afternoon, the Charity Tea Tent was a “great success” said the Town Mayor, Cllr John Ward, who hosted the refreshment tent at yesterday’s Music in the Meadow concert in Gostrey Meadow, organised by Farnham Town Council.
Cllr Ward continued “I raised well over £220 for my mayoral charity, the Ridgeway Community School and I was pleased that the raffle for the cake, which was decorated by my mother-in-law, was won by a resident of Falkner Court in Farnham so it went to a good home”.
An interesting mix of age groups attended the concert to watch Sounding Brass perform in the Bandstand, many of whom the Mayor and Mayoress spoke to were from outside of Farnham.
“I met at least 2 people from the audience who have decided to move to Farnham partially because we do nice things such as organising these concerts” said Cllr Ward.
There are only 2 more concerts scheduled in the Music in the Meadow season with the next one taking place on 5th September.
