Example of what the Document looks like.

The Farnham Design Statement document has just been realised for a consultation period, have you seen a copy

The document is out for public consultation until 30th April 2010 when it will then be amended to take account of public opinion before being sent to Waverley Borough Council to be included as supplementary planning guidance.

Farnham Town Council has been collecting the information for the past 13 months and Cllr Roger Steel said 'Farnham has been the subject of considerable development over the past few years. It is a target for developers. Not all the applications are appropriate for our town and villages but the current Local Plan is not sufficient to allow councilors from restricting inappropriate development – inappropriate because of size or because it is out of character. The Farnham Design Statement is of material importance in providing much needed protection. We are pleased with the consultation document but we encourage everyone to give us their views before we submit the final version’

Cllr Cockburn went on to say that ‘not only did we talk to the residents associations in Farnham to help shape the document but we also had a series of exhibitions around Farnham where local residents came out and told us what they thought.  It is the local residents that put the document together and they should be proud’

The Farnham Design Statement is available to download or you could collect a copy from the Library or Council Offices.

Alternatively Farnham Town Council is finalising a series of dates for exhibitions around the town where you will be able to view the document and tell us what you think.
