3 o clock rock

Crowd of people and bandstand

The sound of rock and roll has once again filled the Gostrey Meadow airwaves.

In the second Music in the Meadow concert, Out of the Shadows entertained an audience of over 600 people with music from the 1960s. The Surrey-based band played many of the classics made famous by The Shadows, Roy Orbison, The Searchers and many other favourites.

Cllr Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events said: “After the previous week’s highly polished concert by The Revivals Band, I was wondering how we were going to match such a high standard of performance. Judging by the clapping and the number of people dancing by the end of the afternoon, I think we can safely say that Farnham has enjoyed another excellent concert. I would like to thank our sponsors for making it possible for Farnham Town Council to offer the Music in the Meadow concerts.”

Farnham Assist, a charity that supports older people, provided the refreshments, which proved to be a sell-out success.

Next week’s concert will see the return of acoustic duet smoothmonkey with the refreshment tent hosted by Tongham Scouts.

Music in the Meadow takes place at Gostrey Meadow from 3 to 5pm every Sunday until 7 September. Any business or organisation interested in sponsoring a concert should contact events@farnham.gov.uk. Sponsorship opportunities start at £300 and are a great way to reach hundreds of local people.
