Two weeks left to shape Farnham

Over 500 hundred people have so far taken the opportunity to complete the questionnaire and have their say on the future of Farnham.

Farnham Town Council has been out and about with its neighbourhood plan roadshow so that all local communities have the chance to find out more information and to ask questions about what is being proposed. The roadshow has visited village halls, central meeting points for communities and school fayres.

On Saturday 6 December between 10am and 4pm, the neighbourhood plan pop-up cafe will be based at the bottom of Castle Street. The neighbourhood plan team will be handing out free tea and coffee and fortune cookies to everybody who visits.

Councillor Carole Cockburn, Lead Member of Farnham’s Infrastructure Planning: “It has been a delight to meet so many people and to have the opportunity to answer some very thoughtful questions about Farnham’s draft neighbourhood plan. I am very much looking forward to spreading the word further when we chat to some of Farnham’s Christmas shoppers on Saturday.”

She adds: “The neighbourhood plan is a very powerful document. If it is adopted, the proposals in the plan will be used to determine planning applications. The plan has the power to influence the shape of our town over the next 20 years. It is so important that people have their say.”

The plan includes options for many of the elements that shape a town’s character. By taking part in the consultation questionnaire, people can give their views on proposals for the location of new housing developments, the future of the town centre and local shops, the protection of open space and plans for valued community facilities such as village halls and cultural attractions.

Everybody who completes the consultation questionnaire will be entered into a draw to win an Apple iPad Mini. The consultation ends at 5pm on Monday 15 December 2014. Further information about the draft neighbourhood plan and the consultation questionnaire can be found on the neighbourhood plan pages.
