Farnham Town Council is launching a best Christmas window competition and is inviting town centre shops and businesses to get involved.

The theme for this year’s competition is the Nativity. The competition will be judged by the Mayor of Farnham, Cllr Jeremy Ricketts in the week before Christmas. He will be looking for originality, imagination and plenty of Christmas cheer.

Cllr Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “We have changed the theme for 2014 from the snowman to the nativity, which will give people plenty of scope for creativity. We will be including participating businesses on a town trail for children and families. The idea is that children and their parents/carers follow the trail and make a note of the nativity character or symbol that they find in each window. The purpose of the trail is to encourage shoppers to visit parts of the town they may not normally visit. We would like to see as many businesses as possible taking part.”

The town trail competition for children will be part of the Christmas Market on Sunday 14 December. There will be a prize for the winner.

Shops or businesses wishing to take part in the competition should register email Farnham Town Council.
