Mayor has his cake and eats it!

fairy cakes and, brownies.

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor John Ward has shown his support for Macmillan Cancer Support by visiting seven of the World’s Biggest Coffee mornings in Farnham in one day!

The Mayor started off at the Hale Sure Start centre where he was treated to a tour of the facilities. This was followed by a visit to the brand new retirement development Hawthorn Lodge where the Mayor was invited to draw numbers in the charity raffle. From Hawthorn Lodge, the Mayor visited the Farnham Herald where he enjoyed home-made biscuits and cakes. Remington Harrow was next on the list. The Mayor chatted to the stylists and encouraged the customers to enjoy some cake while having their hair styled. The town centre coffee mornings concluded with a visit to Farnham Natural Therapy. The Mayor’s coffee morning marathon ended with a visit to Melody Care at Coxbridge Business Park and Right at Home in The Sands.

Speaking afterwards, the Mayor of Farnham Councillor John Ward said: “I don’t think I have ever eaten so much cake for charity! It was marvellous to be able to visit so many Farnham businesses and organisations. I met some wonderful people and it was great to see everybody having lots of fun while raising money for a very good cause.”

So far, over £2.2million has been raised for Macmillan by coffee mornings held across the UK.
