Art charity receives funding

Creative Response receive a grant.

A £3,000 cheque has been presented to a local arts charity that aims to help vulnerable people.

Creative Response applied to the South Street Trust for the grant, which will help 70 participants to develop artistic skills such as observational drawing, composition and how to use colour.

The six-week project is being led by an artist in residence and will conclude with a public exhibition from Tuesday 19 January to Friday 12 February.

A second Creative Response project received a community grant of £1,000 from Farnham Town Council. The money will be spent on art materials that will be used for individual and group projects throughout the year.

Councillor Mrs Pat Frost, Mayor of Farnham presented both cheques and said: “Creative Response works with some of the most vulnerable and isolated people in Farnham’s community. I have enjoyed learning more about their work and hearing how art is used as a catalyst to encourage healing and to help people with mental distress to build up their confidence.”

Farnham Town Council is currently inviting organisations to apply for a community grant for 2016/17. The grant criteria and an application form can be found on our Grants page.
