Keep Farnham Tidy

Farnham Town Council is inviting volunteers to keep Farnham tidy this autumn.

From Saturday 30 September, the community is invited to take part in Big Pick Week, which is an initiative for residents, schools and businesses to organise a litter pick and tidy up an area that needs some attention. The week will conclude with a town centre litter pick on Saturday 7 October between 10am and 12noon.

Councillor Stephen Hill, Lead Member for Community Enhancement says: “Big Pick Week is part of our year-round ‘Bloomin’ Litter’ initiative. Every spring and autumn, groups of people get together and do a fantastic job of tidying up neglected or unkempt areas in and around Farnham. I’m always amazed by the number of unusual items our volunteers find, which in previous years have included a child’s seat, a rake and a fire extinguisher! It will be interesting to see what turns up this year.”

Anybody who would like to organise a litter pick or take part in the town centre litter pick should register their interest by emailing lara.miller@farnham.gov.uk.

Farnham Town Council will provide all necessary equipment including gloves, high visibility jackets and litter picking sticks.

Tea and light refreshments will be available for everybody who takes part in the town centre litter pick on 7 October.
